A SEASONED fund-raiser is set to take on the challenge of Peru's Inca Trail to clock up cash for Acorns.
Alison Fraser will jet out to Peru in October for the 21-mile trek, and hopes to raise £2,500 before she goes.
"I've been thinking about doing this for a long time," said the 25-year-old.
"I've always wanted to go to Peru and after reading the series in the Evening News on the children who are helped by Acorns, I decided to go for it."
Alison, who is a journalist at the Evening News, completed an exhausting 54-mile trek through Iceland last year.
"I'll be out there for two weeks and I'll be visiting the Amazonian rainforest," she added.
"Hopefully, while I'm there, I'll be seeing the Peruvian wildlife and maybe I'll even bump into Paddington Bear."
Alison, who lives in Perdiswell, will be organising a range of activities to help raise the cash.
"I've already organised a gig at the Marr's Bar where two bands, Antihero and Seymour, have agreed to perform.
"I've also got in mind a sponsored walk and a Paddington Bear's Picnic in the summer."
She will be training for the walk by hiking up the Malvern Hills and is also heading for Snowdonia, later in the year.
"I'll make sure that I run up and down the stairs at home a lot too to get in some extra training," she added.
During the trek, Alison will have to scale heights of 13,000ft to reach Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas.
Anyone who wants to sponsor Alison, or is interested in signing up for the trek, should contact her at the Evening News on 01905 748200 or Acorns on 01905 767676.
