CHARITABLE water workers at Severn Trent have swapped ties for T-shirts to raise £27,000 for the tsunami disaster appeal.
The staggering sum was raised on Friday, January 14, by workers at the Midlands-based water company.
A total of 4,500 employees at offices across the Midlands - including locations in Worcester and Evesham - took part in the initiative.
The company has already sent 26 mini water-treatment stations to Thailand to aid the relief effort.
Everyone played part
Severn Trent's customer relations director Jonathan Bailey, said everyone across the company had played a part in donating vital cash for the appeal.
"Whether it was a pound, a day's salary or even their weekend Lottery winnings, staff have let the money flow in," he said.
"The company has matched the £11,400 raised directly from our staff and together with other donations the total figure stands at almost £27,000, a reflection of the depth of feeling everyone has for the victims and survivors of this horrendous disaster."
