A NAME change could be on the cards for Malvern Hills District Council as part of plans to ensure the area's chiefs improve communications with residents.
The idea is one of a number of the local authority's scrutiny panel suggestions relating to its external communications strategy.
The council adopted a communications and consultation policy and strategy in 2003, which was subsequently broken down into three areas - internal and external communications and consultation.
The aim of the external communications strategy is to ensure customers have enough information to know how to access its services.
However the scrutiny panel felt the authority's current name should change as many of the communities outside of the Malvern urban area did not relate to it.
It also raised other issues such as the fact that parish and town councils should be more involved with its external communications.
The strategy outlines how improvements can be made, including giving portfolio holders media training and encouraging and developing use of its website.
The plans are set to be discussed at a meeting of the council's executive committee in Priory Lodge Hall at 5pm tomorrow.
