CHARLOTTE Musgrave will soon be hotfooting it to Cambridge where she has just been offered a place at university to study the somewhat unusual subject for a dancer - engineering.
Charlotte is not only a talented ballerina, but also an amateur drama enthusiast so her choice of a four-year engineering degree course at Magdalene College is all the more remarkable.
Eighteen-year-old Charlotte, of Castlemorton, near Malvern, has always been a "science" person and is currently studying for maths, further maths, physics and chemistry A-levels at Worcester's Alice Ottley School.
"I've always wanted to do engineering," she said.
"I wanted to do something with science, but not work in a lab all the time. I would like to make things.
"There's a lot I can do with my degree - go into manufacturing, anything from cars to aeroplanes, or into management."
Charlotte, who managed nine A* and one A in her GCSEs, added: "I never dreamt I would be able to get into Cambridge.
"I had an interview and a test. It was very strict and I didn't think I'd made it."
One of the reasons why Charlotte wanted to go to Cambridge was because there is the opportunity to keep up her amateur dramatics.
She has been a member of Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society's Youth Section for five years, mainly taking part in shows as a dancer. She was in Kiss Me Kate and Carousel with the senior society, again dancing.
Charlotte will soon be auditioning for a part in WODYS' next production, Les Miserables (School Edition) to be staged at The Swan Theatre, Worcester, from Tuesday, July 26 to Saturday, July 30.
"I know they do a lot of acting at Cambridge, so I am really looking forward to taking part. I've enjoyed being in WODYS tremendously over the years," said Charlotte who dances with Pat Stewart, at Cecilia Hall, Malvern.
