AS the scoreline suggests, there was plenty of goal-mouth action at Victoria Park on Sunday.

MALVERN RADAR 4, CMB SPORTS 4

Surprisingly, the first half was very ordinary, Radar struggling to play constructive football against enthusiastic opponents.

The home side took the lead against the run of play, when Lee Hooper latched onto a flick from Lee Brookes and calmly slotted past Edd Dark in the Sports goal.

CMB then lost a player through injury and, with no subs, were down to ten men.

The Bennett brothers, Mark and Paul, were causing Radar's shaky defence numerous problems and Mark levelled the scores before Simon Gill put CMB in front with an excellent finish.

Kicking down the slope with the wind in their favour, Radar started on top in the second half. A great angled ball from Darren Loader set Hooper free and he cleverly squared to Lee Brookes, who could not fail to score from close range.

He had to leave the field after scoring and James Curtis was introduced up front. Within minutes, he put Radar 3-2 up with another easy tap-in.

This seemed to spur on CMB and they clawed their way back into the game with a great header from the leaping Paul Bennett and then a clumsy Darren Baker challenge resulted in a penalty, easily converted by Mark Bennett.

It was end to end stuff and Radar equalised also from a penalty, Hooper the scorer.

Both teams had late chances, notably Radar when Hooper shot from a narrow angle, failing to see Curtis in front of an open goal. It would have been rough if they had scored, as CMB had battled well.

Radar's have their seventh home game in a row this Sunday when The Vine are visitors. Radar meet 9.45 prompt.
