Welland U14s 0, Newtown Sports Colts 7
Newtown Sports Colts visited Welland on another blustery afternoon. Playing into the wind, the Colts defence of Scullion, Elmes and White coped well, with the keeper Johnson rarely troubled.
The midfield of Newell, Allison, Jaye, Caffull and Powell had to battle hard on a tight pitch, but some great inter-changes between Caffull and Powell set up Buckle to open the scoring with a delicate flick over his head.
Crane gave the Colts a presence up front and he was rewarded with a goal shortly before half-time, when his shot rose above the Welland keeper.
Hale and Edwards came on for the Colts in the second half as they applied more pressure to the Welland goal. Although the Welland keeper pulled off a string of fine saves, he could not stop the energetic Allison grabbing a splendid hat-trick, all three strikes from outside the area.
Hale grabbed another and Edwards scored the last, which owed much to his commitment. The Colts were comfortable winners, showing glimpses of the quality they know they possess against a gallant Welland team.
Newtown Sports 3, Welland U16s 2
Newtown's Lee Jenkins got a well-earned hat-trick as his side beat local rivals Welland in an entertaining encounter.
Newtown had most of the play in the first half and took a well-deserved lead into the interval, scoring first on 11 minutes through Lee Jenkins after the side had strung together eight or nine passes.
Two minutes later and the menacing Mickey Pearson was brought down in the box and Jenkins gave the keeper no chance, smashing the ball into the net. However, before the break, a failed clearance gave Welland a lifeline.
Mickey Pearson was very unfortunate when he had beaten several Welland players, neatly chipping agonising wide after beating the keeper.
The half-time break seemed to have revitalised Welland and they were more up for the challenge. When Newtown's Matt Gregory fouled in the box, Welland scored their second from the spot. Late in the half, Newtown again started to play the better football and put more pressure on by running at the Welland defenders.
Welland tried to play the offside trap but Newtown's Jenkins ran through to round off his hat-trick, placing the ball well passed the opposing keeper.
Newtown's men of the match were Lee Jenkins, David Reynolds and Joe Ball.
MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS COLTS U10s 1, DROITWICH SPA STARS 7
The home side were unlucky not to get a closer result in this hard-played match.
Myles Cunningham and Max Howie in defence, with Pete Shepherd in goal, produced a strong and effective block for the majority of the first half. However, a volley of three quickly taken goals came towards its end, when the Saints found a very impressive burst of energy.
In the second half, Wanderers produced a more tactical style and good team work from Joel Wright, Josh Seabourne and Harry Tawse produced some great chances. Brent Gibbs was unlucky not to score from at least three well-taken shots, but the skilful Saints keeper was there every time.
Gibbs closed one down though, taking the score to 5-1, and yet another attempt hit the cross-bar. Although Malvern kept up their efforts, with Brandon Hudson working well at the back, the Saints broke through twice more, ending with a clear win, but a goal difference which has halved since the two teams last met.
MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS U15s 2, WORCESTER JUNIORS U15s 2
MALVERN Town Wanderers started 2005 as they finished 2004, with a draw, when Worcester Juniors visited Victoria Park for this league fixture.
The first half started with pressure from both sides and on 15 minutes, Wanderers took the lead with a Ryan Mansbridge goal. Wanderers appeared to have the upper hand with several near-misses but on 38 minutes, Worcester Juniors equalised with a well-struck shot.
The second half was only one minute old when Worcester Juniors took the lead and kept the pressure on but Ryan Mansbridge had a shot saved on 29 minutes, which was followed by a goal on 72 minutes.
Despite hard work from Wanderers they were unable to capitalise on their chances.
LYPPARD RANGERS WARRIORS U16S 0,
MALVERN UNITED U16S 6
United displayed composure and discipline when they met up with the Warriors at Diglis and took an early lead.
A quick, long throw from Andy Nolan by the half-way line found Luke Arnold who made no mistake in firing home.
Two minutes later, another throw from Nolan in the same spot was collected by Liam Harford to score.
Unbelievably, another Nolan throw from the same place was this time met by Scott Roberts, who fed Luke Arnold to score. Half time - 3-0.
Nine minutes into the second half and with United continuing to pile on the pressure, Luke Arnold squared across the box for Liam Harford to get his second.
Lyppard continued to play the big kick over the top but United's defence of Dom Portman, Ollie Schoolcraft, Dave Ash (on for Josh Stafford) and Andy Woodward held firm. Hardworking Zac Blood and midfielder Scott Roberts kept the strikers well fed, the latter then giving way to Craig Baker.
Shaun Harris was beginning to penetrate the home defence and a Luke Arnold assist ensured he got on the score sheet to make it five.
With nine minutes to go, Zac Blood's persistence paid off with a fine ball to Luke Arnold to get his hat-trick.
There was still time for Shaun Harris to produce a dazzling run before being felled in the the penalty area - but not time for the spot-kick, time being called as protests over the penalty continued.
Man of the match was Luke Arnold.
Newtown Sports Colts U12s 1,
Newtown Sports Juniors U12s 2
This most local of local derbies saw the Juniors remain unbeaten with an impressive victory.
The Colts dominated the opening minutes and the Juniors' defence had to be on top of their game to keep them out. Having weathered the storm, Juniors created chances of their own but failed to find the net.
Colts took the lead midway through the half, a free- kick was floated over the defence and McCullum latched onto the ball and scored with a neat flick over the keeper. Juniors responded with some concerted pressure but a lack of composure in front of goal kept the Colts in front.
The pressure finally told when the Colts failed to clear and Callum Rock poked home the equaliser.
The second half saw constant Juniors attacking but some dogged and resolute defending kept them at bay.
Turner was the Juniors' best option with some sparkling runs down the flank but despite the time and space, Colts managed to prevent the clear opening.
With time running out, still the Juniors pressed and finally grabbed the all-important goal. Turner raced clear once more and shot at goal, the keeper turned the ball against the post and in the ensuing melee, Turner stabbed it home, injuring himself in the process.
The final minutes were end to end as Colts looked for an equaliser, whilst Juniors came close to increasing the lead but time ran out.
Man of the Match: Callum Rock
BROMYARD TOWN U13s 0,
MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS U13s 1
SKIPPER Jack Bottomley inspired Malvern Town Wanderers to a hard-fought victory over a much improved Bromyard Town on Sunday.
The Wanderers' back four of Webb, Titmuss, Bottomley and Downes all had exceptional games whilst Bakothanasis, playing in an unaccustomed role as goalkeeper, made several excellent saves.
Whittle, Ball and Allmark all combined well in midfield whilst strikers Mayo and Harwood worked tirelessly in attack.
The only goal of the game came just before half-time when a dangerous corner from Asquith was inadvertently headed into the net by a Bromyard defender.
LEDBURY SWIFTS U14s 2, BROMYARD TOWN 1
SWIFTS recovered from last week's disaster to take the points with a hard-fought win.
Swifts reshuffled after welcoming back a number of players and the result was a nervous start against a physically strong Bromyard side.
The defence looked back to its old self with Thomas Watkins covering anything that got past Chris Davies at centre-back.
Rather against the run of play, Swifts took the lead when Lewis Hodges floated in a free-kick and Harry Weaver's looping header found the net.
Bromyard were winning many of the loose balls in midfield but Swifts looked dangerous on the break, with the hard working Thomas Boyle and Harry Weaver.
The two combined to good effect with Thomas sending the ball flashing across the face of goal without anyone able to get a final touch. Just before the break, Bromyard won the ball again in midfield and fashioned an equaliser with a ball into the box.
Kicking up the slope in the second half, Swifts were again forced back early on but Thomas Watkins was working hard to cover any danger.
From a Matthew Lynes throw-on the right, Swifts' Josh Brookland had a shot well-saved by the keeper and then Chris Davies did well to deflect a Bromyard shot wide.
Half-way through the half, Matt Lynes played the ball forward towards Thomas Boyle. When the defender misjudged the bounce, Thomas ran clear before clipping his shot over the advancing keeper and into the net.
Bromyard continued to work hard but Swifts now had something to battle for. Jamie Onions started to win some of the midfield battles and Kieran O'Toole was having a solid game at right-back.
Both sides had chances before the end but Swifts took the points.
