HOUSEHOLDERS in a Worcester road joined forces to organise a jumble sale and raise more than £1,000 for the victims of the Asian tsunami.
More than 20 of the properties in Greenford Gardens, St John's, rallied together to show their support for the cause.
Tracy Bagg organised the event together with her neighbour, Maureen O'Neil.
"We organised it very hurriedly in 10 days and set up tables outside our homes selling all sorts of stuff including unwanted Christmas presents," she said.
"It was like a car boot sale without the cars."
She said she expected only a handful of people to attend the fund-raiser and hoped to raise up to £500, but was left flabbergasted when she discovered the residents had managed to drum up £1,019.
"The final total far exceeded our expectations so we are very chuffed indeed," she said.
