THE Teenage Cancer Trust is £925 better off after a Hereford woman completed a sponsored 80-mile cycle ride for the charity.
Hilary Smith set off from Hereford at dawn and arrived in Aberystwyth in time to see the sunset over the sea.
She made the fund-raising effort in memory of her godson, Simon Brown, who lost his battle with cancer in November 2003 at the age of 21.
He was treated in a specialist teenage unit provided by the Trust at St James's Hospital, Leeds.
Teenage cancer patients from Herefordshire and Worcestershire must travel to Birmingham for similar facilities, which are not yet available in the children's and adult units of most hospitals.
