A SPECIAL event to mark Holocaust Memorial Day will be held at Worcester's Guildhall on Thursday afternoon.
Those taking part will include the Dean of Worcester, the Very Rev Peter Marshall, the Mayor of Worcester, Coun Allah Ditta, the chairman of Worcestershire County Council, Coun Derek Prodger, city and county councillors and representatives of local schools.
Organised by the Diocesan Board of Education, the event is being held on Thursday, the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenhau concentration camp.
Similar events will be held nationally and across Western Europe on the day now known as European Day Against Genocide.
There will be readings relating to the various groups who suffered and perished under Nazism, including Jews, gipsies, homosexuals, religious groups and political opponents.
