A CLEVER little gadget could make hedgehog road deaths a thing of the past.
The British Hedgehog Preservation Society is urging motorists to attach an ultrasonic whistle to their vehicles to alert animals as they approach.
"It's a small high-frequency whistle that is easily fitted to vehicles," said spokeswoman Fay Vass.
"They work at speeds over 30mph and are inaudible to the human ear but are preventing animal road casualties."
The whistles cost £8 and are available through the society's Hogalogue catalogue. For more details send an A5 stamped addressed envelope to Hedgehog House, Dhustone, Ludlow, SY8 3PL.
