HEREFORD United boss Graham Turner is hoping to create history at Edgar Street tonight when his side host Wrexham in the LDV Vans Northern Area Semi-Final - although injuries could hamper their progress.

The Bulls will become the first Conference side to reach the Area Final of the competition if they can dump out the struggling Coca Cola League One outfit.

United already boast an impressive record against Football League opponents, having already seen off the challenges of Scunthorpe United, Doncaster Rovers and Blackpool.

It could be difficult for the hosts though, with defender Ryan Green (hamstring) and strikers Lee Mills (head), Adam Stansfield (head) and Danny Carey-Bertram (hamstring) all facing fitness tests, while midfield loanee Joe Anyinsah is ineligible.

Turner, who clinched the LDV Vans Trophy with Wolves in 1988, is confident his side can progress to the next stage, where they will take on either Oldham Athletic or Tranmere Rovers.

He said: "It's a match that our supporters are really looking forward to. As the FA Cup has shown again this season, the beauty of cup football is that anything can happen and hopefully we can write another page in this club's famous giantkilling tradition.

"It would be fantastic if we could reach the final this season and enjoy a memorable day out in Cardiff. We are only three games from achieving that now and although we know it will be difficult, we will be giving everything we've got to progress even further."

Wrexham, currently fourth bottom in League One, are expected to field their strongest team. Goalkeeper Ben Foster makes his debut after arriving on loan from Stoke, while midfielder Darren Ferguson plays after recovering from an ankle strain.
