THE new chairman of Droitwich Spa Twinning Association is no stranger to the world of town twinning.

Rob Jacobs has been a member of the association for about 15 years and has visited Droitwich's twin town of Bad Ems, in Germany, several times.

Mr Jacobs was elected as the next chairman of the association at the recent annual meeting, taking over from Mike Nott.

Droitwich has been twinned with Bad Ems since 1983 and visits have taken place in each town in alternate years.

Mr Jacobs said the basic principles of twinning were for all kinds of people to join together and exchange friendship and culture.

The next trip to the exchange town will be from Friday, May 27, to Tuesday, June 1.

The association is completely self-funded and relies on social events to raise money. It is due to hold a quiz night at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, Worcester Road, on Saturday, February 19.
