STUDLEY made their way to the final of the Worcestershire Senior Cup with another giant-killing performance after beating Bromsgrove Rovers 3-2 last night (Tuesday, January 25).
The Bees had already beaten Moor Green and Evesham to get to the semi and the Bees weren't about this one slide by them with a possible final against Redditch United or Halesowen Town in the offing.
After a goalless first half Bees midfielder Scott Walsh broke the deadlock after good work down the left wing on 50 minutes and it was Studley's pacy hitman Kevin Jones who made the game safe with a brace soon after.
Jones snapped the shackles the Rovers rearguard before hammering past Bromsgrove keeper Shaun Hayes on 53 minutes.
And Jones trebled the Bees lead on 73 minutes in an almost carbon copy of his first.
Not even a late brace by Bromsgrove Rovers substitute Kevin Banner in the last quarter of the game could not stop Studley progressing to the final.
The Rovers hitman came on with 30 minutes to go and blasted past reserve 'keeper and Studley coach Trevor Whittington twice in five minutes.
Bees boss Kevin Rowlands said: "It's very, very pleasing for me but it was a real team performance and I'm proud of all the lads for making it this far.
"We've been the underdogs in this competition since we started.
"We played Moor Green a week before we were due to play in this competition and they beat us 5-1 so I wasn't really expecting to stay in it."
But Studley stunned their Nationwide North opponents winning 3-2 and then went on to beat Evesham United on penalties at Common Road in the quarter-finals.
Rowalnds added: "It was really brought to light after the game with the chairman and others at the club saying it was the greatest achievement that the club has achieved to date.
"We can't lose, whatever happens in the final we're already winners.
"We've thoroughly enjoyed this competition and we'll just relish in the final."
