REDDITCH mixed martial artist Ross "The Boss" Mason has stepped into the international arena for his next fight as he takes on Bosnian Amir Subasic.
Mason, 28, of Woodrow is undefeated at MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) by a UK opponent and has decided to make the step up for what promises to be a gruelling battle at Aston Event Centre in Birmingham on Sunday, February 20.
Mason said: "I'm really looking forward to this and hope to have plenty of support from the town.
"I won't be rushing into the holds because if I get the opportunity, I'll punch and use my kicks, but as and when the fight is in close I'll be ready."
Mason has already started his punishing training schedule at Stevie B's Gym in Acocks Green, Birmingham.
He added: "I'm pleased with my training so far.
"I've heard that my opponent doesn't like taking too many shots so if I get the chance I'll open up, but if he thinks that's my only way of winning he's in for bad news."
The bill includes Kings Norton's Peter Hefford who takes on Neil North from Brighton and a K-1 heavyweight kickboxing bout between Birmingham's Pele Reid and Scotland's Duncan Airlie James.
Top of the bill is the eagerly awaited MMA contest between Stoke-on Trent's Ross Pointer and Valentijn Overeem from the Netherlands.
Doors on the night open at 5pm and the first bout is at 6pm. Tickets are priced at £25 or £35 for adults or £75 or £100 for VIP's and are available on 01902 552 121 or online at www.midlandsboxoffice.com
