ANGRY residents opposed to the Cripplegate Park car park expansion must be listened to, a city councillor has pleaded.
Coun Sam Arnold, who represents St John's, said that the plans for the enlargement amounted to "concreting over" parts of the park.
"Why are the views of the people of Worcester being ignored regards Cripplegate Park?" Coun Arnold asked at last night's full council.
His comments come after the Friends of Cripplegate Park called for users of the park to lodge official objections over the application for an extra 76 spaces.
The cabinet member responsible for the riverside parks redevelopment, Coun Francis Lankester, said only 1.5 per cent of the park land was being lost.
"I and the cabinet are absolutely committed to enhancing Cripplegate Park even though the Heritage Lottery Fund has said it will not do so," he added.
