TENNIS: On Sunday Wythall B were at home to Snitterfield A in Division Four of the Stratford Winter League, in a game neither team could afford to lose.
The home pair of Kevin Turner and Joe Singleton played Righton and Straker.
The first set was close but in the fourth game Turner was broken to give the visitors a 3-1 lead and eventually Wythall lost the set.
The second set was again close and Wythall had break points but could not convert and despite saving two match points eventually lost the match 6-3 7-5.
The second pair for Wythall, Rob Spencer and Mathew Fellows played Snitterfield's Johnson and Humphries. Wythall took control and won the match 6-0 6-0 to level the tie.
The reverse rubbers saw Turner and Singleton play Johnson and Humphries, which Wythall won 6-0 6-2.
Snitterfield's Righton and Straker then took on Spencer and Fellows to try and level the tie.
In a close match Wythall took the first set 6-4 and Snitterfield took the second, again 6-4.
The deciding set saw Wythall take early control and take a 5-2 lead but Snitterfield fought back and Fellows for Wythall held his nerve and served aces to take the set 6-4 and win the tie.
The next match is at home against Bidford who are currently in third place and Wythall need to win again to climb the table.
