THE number of planning applications for three-storey blocks of flats in Studley has started to worry the parish council.

Yet another application has been submitted for a block on the site of the old police house at the top of Bell Lane, off Alcester Road.

Developers want to build four flats on top of business premises at street level.

The parish council has formally objected to the plans. It fears the exit from the neighbouring fire station could easily be blocked by residents and a business next door.

Air and noise pollution in that area of Studley also made it unsuitable for habitation, the council said.

And another planning application for a three-storey block of nine flats has also been submitted. Another developer wants to build on Alcester Road near the entrance to Southmead Gardens.

The parish council has recently objected to plans for a residential home on the site of the Duke of Marlborough pub and the design of flats on the site of the old Co-op building.

Parish clerk Dot Mitchell said: "It looks like the floodgates are opening with these three-storey buildings."
