Studley 3 Bromsgrove Rovers 2
ROOKIE goalkeeper Sean Hayes experienced a baptism of fire on his debut as youthful Studley knocked Rovers out of the Worcestershire Senior Cup on Tuesday night.
Hayes, in for the suspended Matt Lowe, picked the ball out of the back of the net three times after an experimental back three of Karl Johnson, Phil Male and Ross Collins had a match to forget.
Rovers' Midland Alliance rivals also had goalkeeper troubles as regular right back and coach Trevor Whittington played in goal.
After a flat first half the game burst into life when Scott Walsh slotted the ball under Hayes in the 50th minute.
Winger Kevin Jones made it 2-0 four minutes later and then seemingly put the game beyond Rovers in the 70th minute with a curling shot.
Substitute Kevin Banner dragged his side back into the match minutes later when his free-kick deceived Whittington and went into the goal.
Banner then made it 3-2 with an expert lob, after fine approach play by Riad Erraji and John Daniels.
Jones almost had the last laugh, but he missed the chance for a hat-trick when he slid the ball wide in the 84th minute.
