Kings Norton 0
Stourbridge Lions 6
THE Kings men paid the penalty for not taking their chances and were beaten off the top of the table by a tough Stourbridge side.
The Lions kicked over a penalty in each half at Ash Lane to secure the win which took them back to the pinnacle of the North Midlands One while the Norton's penalty taker, Ken Whitehouse, had an off day and missed the target with two similar opportunities.
The Lions regularly cleared their lines with some excellent kicking out of defence to relieve any Kings Norton pressure.
Meanwhile, the Norton forwards constantly foiled the Lions well-drilled back row moves with some tough tackling.
Norton's captain Mark Waudby and hooker Phil Cooksey both put in solid performances, with flanker Paul McGlynn also disrupting the constant Stourbridge attacks.
Kings centre Matt Eagles managed to break away from his tackler only to be taken out soon after but the resulting penalty kick dropped just short.
Kings Norton look to regain their position at the top when they travel to lowly Birmingham Civil Service on Saturday (KO 2.15pm).
