I FIND it strange Councillor Kate Spencer should object to Droitwich Town Council voting to support the SALT proposals for the Lido.

I voted in favour of these proposals for one main reason. For many years Droitwich has lacked any sort of leadership. We are a town of upwards 25,000 people, yet we have allowed ourselves to forward our views of what should happen to our town. As a consequence we have seen Droitwich's assets stripped and looted by Wychavon, aided and abetting by the majority of your councillors.

It is no accident that a new hospital is being built in Pershore rather than Droitwich. The MP and councillors for Pershore fought hard to influence the health trust. Our MP and most of our councillors did nothing. The town council did not debate the issue and our district councillors did not inform us what was going on. The same is happening with many other issues.

I do not wish to see the Lido knocked down and for Droitwich to miss out yet again. As a town we have to state our views clearly, we have to shape the debate and fight for our best interests. Cllr Spencer can take her orders from her political cronies at Wychavon if she wishes.

Evesham and Pershore do well out of Wychavon, it is high time Droitwich gots its fair share. The only way this will happen is if we lead rather than follow.
