THE search is on to find Bromsgrove's outstanding new architectural gems.

The Bromsgrove Society is inviting entries for its award scheme, which seeks to recognise architecture which adds to the value of the district environment.

The society has made awards on several occasions during the 1980s and 90s and more recently in 2002. Previous winners include the Market Hall, Bromsgrove Golf Centre, the conversion of Wilsons Pet Centre and in 2002 two new buildings at Bromsgrove School.

This year marks the society's 25th anniversary and part of the celebrations will be the award for buildings completed between January 1, 2002, and December 31, 2004, for which entries are now being invited.

The award is given for new buildings, modernisations, conversion to alternative uses and landscaping work.

In the past entries have been of considerable merit and it is hoped a similar level will be achieved this year. Entries will be judged by a committee, all of whom are experts in their respective fields.

They must be submitted by March 31. An award, if appropriate, will be made at the society's annual general meeting on July 7. Entry forms are available from executive member David Slater, Pepperwood House, Dordale Road, Bromsgrove, B61 9JX. telephone 01527 871559. E-mail david.slater@btconnect.com
