A RUBERY-based volunteer group has nominated five of its eager youngsters for regional and national awards.
The Millennium Volunteers, who are based at the Youth Worcs, Rubery, in New Road, has put forward five of its youngsters after successful placements.
The group has volunteers throughout Bromsgrove and helps them organise placements in areas of interest.
A national certificate, which can be shown at job interviews and goes towards points for university entry, is up for grabs for dedicated youngsters aged between 16 and 24.
Volunteers from the area helped out at both the street theatre and the storytelling in last year's park event.
Vicky Parker, of Youth Worcs, said: "It is a really good thing to get involved with. It can help at interviews and help get you involved in a certain area."
The five candidates, if selected by award judges, will join 350 young people at an award ceremony at Broadway Plaza, Birmingham, with the winner then going for the national award.
Emily Brooks, aged 19, from Aston Fields, is one of the five youngsters nominated for her efforts when she was a pupil at North Bromsgrove High School.
"I have got a lot out of it," she said. "It helped me decide I wanted to be a teacher and started me on the path to doing it."
The centre is currently looking for volunteers in Rubery and also throughout the region. Anyone interested can contact Youth Worcs, Rubery, on 0121 4536714.
