AN energetic Spa teenager will be swapping the great British seaside this June when he jets off to the USA for two months on a summer camp.
Luke Hogarth can't wait to go back out to the States, where he spent last summer working as a children's counsellor at Pierce Camp Birchmont, in New Hampshire.
The 18-year-old former Droitwich High School student highly recommends the experience, which was arranged through Camp America.
"The best two months of my life were spent in a cabin with ten children and two other counsellors. Don't get me wrong, those two months were hard work, however, ultimately it was all worth it for the experience of a lifetime," he said.
And when the hard work was over he also had the opportunity to visit the Big Apple, which was a six-hour drive from base camp. He stayed with one of his American friends and visited some of New York's famous sites.
This summer he hopes to work in Miami, Florida, and has plans to return to different parts of America during his summer holidays from university.
"Summer camp is now a huge part of my life and if my summers weren't spent at camp I would probably be at home running a job like most students. Be different, take a step from the norm, it is a decision I have never regretted," added the Tagwell Heights teenager.
