Arrow Vale Community High School has started fund-raising in earnest for the tsunami disaster appeal after requests from students.
Pupils and staff have drawn a huge map of all areas which have been affected on the floor of the school theatre.
Youngsters are now collecting coins to fill these areas - with each year group having a country to fill with the coins.
All the money collected will be handed over to Redditch Millennium Diving Club, whose members were in Sri Lanka when the tsunami struck.
Redditch woman Sue Metcalf, who was in Asia at the time, has also talked to Arrow Vale pupils in assemblies about her experiences.
