ALCESTER town councillors are to oppose plans to erect another telecommunications mast in Oversley Green to give residents the chance to have their say.

Although not all members of the council voted against T Mobile's proposals for a 25ft tower on the silos at Lower Lodge Farm, they were concerned householders in the vicinity had not been informed of the planning application.

Nina Knapman, who campaigned against the Tetra police telecommunications mast which is also on the hill, failed to persuade all fellow councillors to back her against the latest application.

John Bunting said: "If we have got to have them, and it appears that we have, then this seems to be the best place."

Mark Hind, chairman of Oversley Green Residents Association (OGRA), confirmed the group would be opposing the application currently lodged with Stratford Council.

"As a matter of principle we are against these masts because we are not convinced they are safe.

"There are some serious concerns which have not been addressed and we will be sending someone to speak at the planning meeting."

A representative from the town council will also attend the Arden planning committee at 6pm tomorrow. The meeting is due to be held in Bidford.
