Pershore 4, Ludlow 2
PERSHORE started Saturday's Coaching Solutions West Midlands Division Two game in much the same way as they had the previous week, taking the lead through an early Richard Lisle goal.
The visitors soon levelled after a mix-up at a short corner but the hosts were back ahead quickly after a short corner of their own that saw skipper Gareth Rushton sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Pershore then closed out a reasonable first half with a well worked move and Andy Wright found Rushton on the goalline to tuck the ball back inside the keeper allowing Jamie Hughes a knock-in at the back post.
The second half brought some terrible play from Pershore who should have easily extended their lead early but a combination of poor composure and lack of shape conspired to ensure the second half was no easy ride.
They did extend the lead with 15 minutes to go after a good move down the right between Toby Whiting and James Rayner that saw the latter hit the byline and square the ball to Rushton at the back post to collect his fifth goal in two games.
Ludlow grabbed another after some good advantage play by the umpire but it was too little to late.
Pershore travel to Worcestershire rivals Malvern on Saturday in a bid to overturn the goal difference which is currently keeping them out of the promotion spot behind Stafford.
Other results: Pershore II 1, Aldridge II 1. Pershore III w/o v Aldridge III.
