NUMBER 8 held its fifth sell-out live programme on Saturday, January 22 when the Malvern Big Band played live Jazz to an enthusiastic and appreciative audience. This 17 piece jazz orchestra (formed in June 2001 from local musicians) performed a varied selection of music from the 1930's to the present day. The band leader Mike Halliday not only conducted but was able to share his talents by playing a variety of instruments in addition to acting as compare throughout the evening. A highlight of the evening was the lively and exciting vocalisation by Sally Lewis who unfortunately was making her last appearance with the band due to retirement. The band was joined by the audience who showed their appreciation for various performances with them by a special presentation. The next live presentation will be Golden Moments performed by Hatstand Opera on February 4, 7.30pm.
