STOURPORT Ladies team's excellent unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday when their hosts, Worcestershire second X1 won 2-1 in their Worcestershire First Division match.
Stourport created most of the pressure in the early half, but were unable to convert their chances, while good defensive play by Alison Leeke and Alissa Elford kept their hosts at bay to keep the first half scoreless.
Elford came close to opening the scoring at the beginning of the second half, her drag flick from a short-corner being saved by the Worcester goalkeeper.
The deadlock was broken by a penalty flick in the 50th minute for Worcester, but Stourport were never out of the match, and kept up the pressure with Vicki Whitehouse at right midfield linking well with Kerry Walker and Kayleigh Hateley.
Hateley levelled the scores when her run along the back line resulted in a shot which hit the post then went in. Worcester produced seven minutes of sustained pressure on their visitors' goal, and re-took the lead from a short-corner. Stourport pressed for an equaliser, but missed a chance in the final minute of the match.
Louise Bagnall scored two goals, and Emily Plant and Leanne Matthews added one each to ensure Stourport Ladies seconds achieved a 4-1 victory over visiting Harborne.
The ladies thirds hammered a depleted Upton side on Saturday, beating their visitors 6-0 to make an excellent re-start to their Worcestershire Third Division season.
Lucy Holmes scored three goals, and the other three came courtesy of Teri Baron, Rosie Connolly and Sandra Barlow.
It was a disappointing start to the resumption of the Worcestershire Third Division League programme for Stourport Ladies fourths, as they were beaten 4-0 at Old Sils.
