Stourport Men's indoor hockey campaign came to a disappointing end when they failed to secure promotion back to the national premier league.
They were well placed to bounce back up from division one north at the first attempt after winning three of their four games during the first weekend in Hull.
But a lack of players meant they struggled to field a team during the second week and ended up losing two and drawing two.
The absence of Ian Roberts, who was an influential figure the previous weekend hampered them as did an injury to Shilen Tanna which left them playing matches with just one or no substitutes.
Consequently they finished mid-table after drawing 2-2 and 5-5 with Hull and Sheffield Hallam and losing 5-2 and 5-0 to Doncaster and Sheffield University Bankers.
The men's firsts outdoor team play two friendlies this weekend, taking on Birmingham University on Saturday and Barford on Sunday.
They resume their national league season at home to Manchester-based Bowden on Sunday February 6. Stourport seconds came from behind at home to beat Birmingham University 3-2 with goals from Dan Packwood (2) and Mark Harradine. They host Barford at 1pm on Saturday. Captain Dominic Roberts scored a consolation goal as the thirds went down 4-1 at home to Birmingham Uni. They visit Loughborough Town at 2pm on Saturday.
The fourths host Loughborough Students at 11.30am on Saturday hoping to recover from their 3-0 defeat at West Bridgford. And the fifths, who held West Bridgford to a goal less draw, visit Worcester at 12.30pm.
A bad day saw the sixths go down 6-1 at Sutton Coldfield with Neil Hopkins grabbing their goal. They host Cannock eighths at 3.30pm on Saturday.
