POLICE officers who have turned their hands to organising events are inviting young people to "party in the park".
Stourport beat manager, PC Jon Harris and Bewdley beat manager, PC Nigel Barter, said several hundred youngsters attended last year's Party in the Park events in Bewdley and Stourport and invited some of the revellers to help organise the sequels, which they hope will be "bigger and better".
They are expected to be held at Stourport Memorial Park and Bewdley Leisure Centre in August but exact dates have not been set.
PC Barter said: "Last year several hundred people, aged between 10 and 18, turned up to enjoy free food and activities such as a rock climbing wall, mobile skate park and assault course and we hope this year's event will be even bigger and better.
"We are looking at having them run during the afternoon and evening, instead of just the evening like last year, but we would like young people to tell us what sort of activities they want."
PC Harris said sponsorship was also being sought from companies and organisations.
"Last year a number of local businesses came along and we hope we will get similar support this year, in terms of grants towards the funding of events or the donations of food, equipment or entertainment," he said.
Anyone interested in becoming involved should contact PC Harris or PC Barter on 08457 444888.
