AT the inter-church games evening held last week at Somers Park Avenue Methodist Church Hall, a team of David and Margaret Allen (playing snooker and Ludo respectively) and Meg Allsopp (table tennis) represented St Peter's Church, Powick.
The team which represented St James' Callow End comprised Phil and Joy Bunyan (table tennis and snooker) and Rita de Boer (Ludo). Phil Bunyan reached the table tennis final but lost to Anthony Wiseman (of St Joseph's) and Rita de Boer won the Ludo final defeating Margaret Allen. St Joseph's Church were the overall winners with St James, Callow End runners-up. The clergy contest of table tennis was won by Reverend Rosemary Herbert of St James, West Malvern.
A number of parishioners joined the Sisters of Stanbrook Abbey, Callow End on Monday to enjoy a social evening to end the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, ending with Compline in their chapel.
Next Sunday, the only service in the parish will be a united communion service at St Mary's, Guarlford at 10.30am. The preacher will be Peter Buchanan, the head at Dyson Perrins CEHigh School, Malvern. All welcome.
Powick Parish Ramblers are meeting in the WCC car park behind the New Inn at Shrawley next Monday, February 1. The six mile walk goes via Glasshampton and Astley through woodland and starts at 10am. The walk is led by Sally Linsey, phone (01905) 820476 for further details.
Next Friday, February 4 an evening of ballroom and sequence dancing takes place at Powick Parish Hall from 7.30pm. Please bring your own refreshments. Details available from Brian and Philomena on (01905) 454338.
A seven mile walk around Callow End and surrounding area will take place on Sunday, January 30. This is organised by Worcester Rambling Club. For further details of time and meeting, please ring (01905) 29567.
