The Great Malvern Club, in Church Street, shut its doors for the final time on New Year's Eve.
Although I've only DJ'd at the club a couple of times, I've been made more than welcome. What makes it even more special for me is that I grew up and lived in Malvern for 30 years, until about two years ago when I moved to Gloucester, and it was the venue of my first proper gig as a DJ.
The atmosphere is fantastic, especially on the Trance and Hard Dance nights, as everybody knows each other and they are always up for a good time. It would be a massive blow for the local scene to lose it, not only for clubbers but also for people who want to see a live band.
The Great Malvern Club offers a real alternative for the regular club-goers of Malvern, who are looking for somewhere that is offering something other than the mainstream.
I will be signing the petition and also writing a letter to the council as I, along with a lot of my friends, would hate to see the place close for good.
