IAN Sage saved the whitewash for Dynamos in Division Three of the Malvern Table Tennis League but could not make it a point when they played Crackpots B.
Ted Cates and Stephen Lindner each won three for Crackpots and Alan Forsdike two and the doubles with Stephen.
Allsorts put up a tougher fight than the score suggests when they met X-Police. Only three sets were won in straight games and four went to a fifth game. Twelve games were won by only two points and another eight by just three points.
Alex Lindner played extremely well to win two sets and he and Lizzie Gorton only lost the doubles by 11-9 in the fifth game. Malcolm Dalley won three and Alan Holmes and Steve Mulka two each for X-Police and Steve and Malcolm won the doubles.
Another long evening was when the friendly rivals of Manor Park teams, Crackpots and Maulers, met.
Ray Davies won all his singles for Maulers but only by 10-12 in the fifth against Ed Palmer and 7-11 in the fifth against Stan Ginn. Stan and Richard won two each for Crackpots and Bill Smith and Don James one each and the doubles for Maulers.
When Maulers played Dynamos they won all the sets but Collette took two sets to a fourth game and Vivien Tolley also won a game.
RESULTS: Dukes Way Dynamos 1, Crackpots E 9; X-Police 8, Manor Park Allsorts 2; Manor Park Crackpots 4, Manor Park Maulers 6; Manor Park Maulers 10, Dukes Way Dynamos 0.
