HOW to make a farmer's life difficult in three easy EU lessons.
As of January 1:
1) Farmers can no longer use tractors or other heavy equipment if their fields are wet or there is a puddle anywhere other than within 20 yards of the gate.
2) Because of vibration, farmers are only allowed to use tractors for two hours every day. How can you harvest in these circumstances?
3) Many pieces of farm machinery are used infrequently but if left in one place for any length of time the farmer can be prosecuted for creating an eyesore.
To police these rules means an ever-increasing army of bureaucrats. This makes it harder for farmers to make a living and feed the population and, of course, opens the farmer up to fines and even jail.
No wonder support for UKIP and its policy to leave Europe gain in strength.
