THE Fossils set the highest Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League score of the season in a 69-run win over newcomers Worcester Dominies & Guild.
Brothers Tim and Rich Williams along with Martin Woodward ensured Fossils posted a mammoth 167-4.
Tim Williams hit the biggest individual score for many years in the competition, 73 not out, Woodward contributed 30 not out and Rich Williams added 27 before he had to retire.
Although Dominies' young bowlers did well, with Matt Williams (1-37) and Chris Stokes (1-29) taking wickets, the Fossils largely dominated.
In reply, Dominies acquitted themselves well in only their second game of the season, making 98-6.
Woodward took 2-20 and Tim Williams 1-19 but Dominies were boosted by Matt Williams and Liam Hopkins, who both hit 19, alongside Neil Price's 18.
n Avoncroft triumphed by 45 runs over Colwall as they posted an impressive 154-1.
Jon Bird and Rich Doodey crashed 86 runs in the opening partnership but the former retired on 27 from 20 balls.
Adrian Fox kept the momentum going with 13 runs from nine balls before Doodey (26) also had to retire.
Fox continued to thrash the bowling on his way to 25 not out from 10 balls and joined the retirement list with the score on 117.
Athey's run-out for five was the only wicket as Mark Whitehead (22 not out) and Adam Rodway (nine not out) finished the innings.
In reply, Colwall collapsed to 109-6 with Mark Shouler (13), Tom Wolfendale (27) and James Wagstaff (19) top scoring, while Bird (1-12) bowled well.
n Sam Howell and Miles Illingworth led Worcester Royal Grammar School to an unlikely 24-run win over Cutnall Green.
Howell scored 55 not out and Illingworth 34 as the school saw most of their players run out for single figures, except for John Dovey (15).
But Howell plundered 30 runs from the last 15 balls in order for RGS to reach 141-5.
In reply, Green built their innings around Neil Fletcher who was the penultimate man out for 33 runs.
But Fletcher saw Matt Harris (five), Alfie Mamood (nine) and Neil Evans (four) depart cheaply against tight bowling and good fielding.
Dan Higgins finished on 24 not out with the best bowling from Illingworth (1-27) and Dominic Harris (1-28).
n Worcester Nomads 'A' defeated Droitwich 'B' by two wickets after dismissing the town side for 105.
Droitwich mainly reached their total through the efforts of Rich Firley (43 not out) and Andy Powell (15) but lost their first four wickets for 49 runs.
James Hale (1-25), Ben Shifman (1-20) and Darren Lakin (1-15) were the successful Nomads bowlers, supported by impressive fielding.
Openers Malcolm Jones and Derek Austin enjoyed an unbroken stand of 50 in reply before they lost four wickets on the way to a winning 106 runs.
Reg Dixon (three), Lakin (four), Shifman (three) and Hale, bowled by Powell for 15, were other contributors.
But Jones (42 not out) and Austin (29 not out) won the match for Nomads with six balls to spare. Phil Hamilton took 1-1 and Powell 1-36.
Fixtures, tomorrow: Belbroughton v Droitwich 'A' (7.30pm), Cutnall Green v Chaddesley Corbett (8.30pm); Monday: Colwall v Worcester Nomads 'B' (8pm), Droitwich 'C' v Dominies & Guild (9pm).
