TENBURY Swimming Club wants more people to take the plunge and help keep it open.
Without more volunteers, the club, founded in 1971, will shut down says one of its members.
A public meeting has been arranged for next month, in a bid to find more people willing to step forward and help with tasks such as poolside assistants, administration.
If the club, run entirely by volunteers, goes, so will Swim 21, a scheme established by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) to enable clubs to encourage swimmers, coaches and administrators to achieve their full potential.
Activities are centred around swimmers' needs and are all aimed at providing them with the best possible environment.
Tenbury has 43 swimmers (children aged between eight and 16), a waiting list of 24, two qualified ASA teachers and four assistant teachers committed to an hour a week.
"We need more people to help keep the club open and implement Swim 21 conditions," explained member Julie Link.
"Without it we could close down. We are hoping that we get a good response at the public meeting."
The event is due to be held in Tenbury Pump Rooms, on Tuesday, February 8, at 7pm and everybody interested in swimming or keen to support the aims of the club is welcome.
