TEN couples whose wedding dreams were thrown into jeopardy when Worcester city councillors voted to scrap the venue they had already booked are waiting with baited breath to see if the decision will be reversed.
The planning committee last month refused to let the Diglis House Hotel retain its popular marquee - a popular wedding reception venue for the past 11 years - every summer until 2009.
But 10 couples had already arranged for the biggest day of their life to take place there this year.
Now hotel manager Colin Tutin has re-applied for planning permission - but this time just for three months to honour the weddings due to take place.
He will find out whether he has been successful when the planning committee makes its decision on Thursday, February 17.
Bride-to-be Rachel Ball from Surrey, who is due to be getting married in the grounds of the Diglis on Saturday, June 18, has written to the planning committee urging them to change their minds.
"I would ask you to reconsider the situation so that my fianc, the other affected couples and myself can continue planning our special events safe in the knowledge that our chosen special venue still stands," she said.
Mr Tutin said that if permission was granted for the marquee for three months this summer it would be the last time it stands.
"Later in the year we will be applying for permission to build a permanent orangery-type building off the annexe to the hotel," he said.
