MALVERN Town put in a disappointing display and deserved to lose by more in a 3-0 home loss to Coalville Town.
High-flying Malvern had a number of early chances in the Travel Factory Alliance clash but both Des Cox and Phil Preedy were caught offside by a defence that has conceded few goals this season.
Malvern's midfield were also guilty of putting too much weight behind their passes and the hosts were not fully switched on as they conceded Coalville's opener on 11 minutes.
Striker Rich Saunders, probably the visitors' man-of-the-match, headed through Town's static defence and smashed the ball past goalkeeper Paul Wyatt.
There was a chance for Malvern soon after when winger Duncan Preedy intercepted a pass back but his shot from a tight angle failed when a cut-back to Cox was the better option.
Duncan Preedy was unlucky when his clever 30-yarder was tipped over by the back-pedalling 'keeper Sean Bowles.
Phil Preedy was denied by Bowles and then won a penalty when his shirt was pulled by Coalville's Dave Tongue. But Darren Bullock's well-hit spot-kick was stopped by Bowles' superb diving save.
The penalty miss proved to be crucial as Coalville grew in confidence and played some excellent one-touch football.
It led to a number of chances for the visitors as Saunders and Kim Green both went close.
Town just could not get to grips with the game and Saunders rounded Wyatt for goal number two after Dave Cannon's pass was intercepted.
And when Tim Wilkes crossed from the right, Danny Geary rose highest to head home the third goal. Malvern's Rich Tompkins went close twice but the visitors were worthy winners.
