THE battle to be crowned Mr and Miss YFC is always a tough one and this year proved no exception.

Twenty members went head-to-head at The Hundred House, Great Witley, for the two top spots, as well as the Junior Member of the Year title.

Each competition involves an interview, where each member spends 10 - 15 minutes answering judges' questions. The questions relate to a member's time in YFC and offers them an opportunity to explain their involvement at the various levels of the organisation.

The judges look for members who are enthusiastic, passionate, committed and would make good ambassadors for the organisation.

After a long night of interviews and deliberating by the judges, the waiting was over. The winners were:

n Junior Member of the Year for the third year running is Hannah Talbot of Cutnall Green YFC. In second and third place were Martin Truslove, from Wythall YFC, and Claire Lancaster, from Inkberrow YFC.

n Mr YFC was announced as Crowle's James Rowley, with county vice-chairman, and Crowle YFC member Mike Shaw in second place and Ian Wormington, from Bromsgrove, third.

n Miss YFC was awarded to Demelza Audis, of Cutnall Green YFC, last year's county chairman. Second place for the evening was awarded to Rosie Groves, of Bromsgrove, and Jane Hemmingway of Wythall YFC gained third place.

The overall Senior Member of the Year went to Demelza Audis.

Demelza and Hannah will represent Worcestershire in the next round, which will take place in March.
