GETTING back in the classroom took on a whole new meaning for a Droitwich headteacher, as she became "the new girl" for the day.
Kathryn Hill donned full school uniform and even had her hair in bunches as she took to the other side of the classroom and became a pupil for the day.
Pupils at St Joseph's school in Ombersley Way came up with a range of ideas of how to raise money for the tsunami disaster appeal, but getting their headteacher to experience life as a pupil again won the vote.
"I had a really enjoyable day and it really opened my eyes," Mrs Hill said. "I was introduced as the new girl and the children were told they had to look after me and show me around.
"It showed me just how kind the children are at this school."
Mrs Hill took part in maths, science and English lessons, but it wasn't all fun, as she ended up with a telling-off for flicking tiddly winks.
Each of the pupils had sponsored Mrs Hill to take part in the event, and they managed to raise a total of £140.
