EVERYONE has their suspicions about junk mail claims of huge prize draw wins. But one Worcester man has more doubts than most after receiving hundreds of hoax letters.

Garnett Alderson reckons he should be sitting on an empire worth more than half a million pounds if the wins were real.

But after responding to some of the enquiries to confirm they lead nowhere, the 62-year-old wants to make sure other people are not duped.

"I've sent off about five cheques to see what the response would be and how true it was and I wish I hadn't," said the retired electronic wireman, of Foregate Street.

"I've been living here since June and it started two months after that. It's probably my fault because I sent the cheques off but I've been saving them to show it is a scam. I just want the elderly and vulnerable to be aware it is a con."
