THE Worcestershire Duckworth Trust is calling on people of all ages to start talking rubbish.

In the run up to this year's annual recycling awareness campaign - called Rubbish? Sort It! - the Trust has launched a poetry contest.

The Talking Rubbish competition calls on entrants to write about the environmental issues of litter, waste and recycling.

The competition was run for the first time last year and the Trust received more then 400 entries.

This year, organisers are hoping to top that figure.

Winners of each age group - up to 11, 12 to 16 and 17 years-old and above, will receive cash prizes and their poems will once again be published in an anthology to be distributed around the city.

The Rubbish? Sort It! campaign, which takes place from Tuesday, March 29, to Saturday, April 30, is run in conjunction with Worcester City Council, Worcestershire County Council, British Waterways and the City Centre Forum.

It encourages community groups to do more to improve their local environment.

Anyone who would like an entry form can contact Kate Norgate at the Trust on 01905 734980.

The closing date for applications is Monday, April 4.
