ST Bede's Middle School's girls under 13 hockey players had to defeat both tough opposition and the appalling weather to become district champions at the end of January.
The Holloway Lane Middle School team lost their first match at the Woodrush High School tournament in Wythall but went on to take the honours in the final on January 19.
Final match scorers were skipper Charlotte Cole, Francesca Fiumefreddo and Jasmine Leigh while Amie Richards was outstanding in goal.
St Bede's hockey coach, Karen Leatt said: "Having lost the first match in the tournament, the girls showed the strength and resilience needed to overcome both the very tough opposition and harsh weather conditions."
