Chasetown 1
Alvechurch 4
THE Churchmen toppled top of the table Chasetown in their own backyard thanks to a double from Brett Fitzpatrick.
Alvechurch went behind to a Steve Ball goal on 27 minutes but Simon Redhead equalised for the visitors five minutes before the break and Fitzpatrick grabbed the first of his double on half time.
Fitzpatrick then netted his second ten minutes after the interval and Liam O'Shea rubbed salt in to Chasetown wounds with a goal ten minutes before the final whistle.
A delighted Alvechurch manager Peter Frain said: "In the last couple of games against Rushall and Quorn we've played very, very well and to be honest deserved something out of both of them.
"We've been equipping ourselves correctly and on Saturday we really outplayed them in every department.
"The lads showed great attitude and their fitness really told as well as the individual skill.
"The disappointing thing for me is that I know we're capable of putting in that performance every week. We're a totally new side from the one last season and I can really see the team coming together, that's not just on the back of the result on Saturday but in our performances recently."
