THE idea of replacing Redditch Council's dated logo looks set to be rejected tonight because the "disadvantages would outweigh the benefits".

Officers say in a report for the executive committee that the 80s logo is "not particularly fashionable" and has little inherent meaning.

But the cost of redesigning it would be more significant than first thought, the report goes on to say.

It added: "A number of well-known logos are considered poor in design terms but the use of consistent and complementary design around them still enables a professional image to be portrayed."

The council had also thought about holding a public competition to redesign the logo but decided against it as the winner could potentially claim a fee every time the design was used.
