A GROUP of brave teachers at a Worcester school had a hair-raising experience this week - as they took part in a sponsored leg-wax for the tsunami disaster appeal.
A total of seven male lecturers and two Year 11 students - Chris Kwiecien and Paul Burton - took part in the event at Christopher Whitehead School in the city's Bromwich Road.
It took place on Monday and the leg-waxing was carried out by Evelyne Millward of Worcester's The Beauty Retreat on stage in front of pupils in the science hall block.
And the event - organised by Year 11 pupils Carla Johnson and Stuart Withers - helped to raise more than £500 for charity, with students collectively sponsoring each teacher a minimum of £75 to take part.
"It went extremely well - the science block hall was packed out and students paid to go in," said assistant headteacher Saira Archer.
"We did have a swear box standing by but it wasn't needed!"
The school has already raised £2,000 for the tsunami disaster appeal through a non-uniform day earlier in the term and is now also selling the Evening News wishbands.
