ORGANISERS behind a major frisbee tournament in Malvern are confident it will take place in the town again this year - provided they can secure a venue.
The Ultimate Frisbee event was held in the town for the first time last year and was organised by the local team.
Twelve groups from across the country came together to do battle in the competition, with Loughborough team, Slippery When Wet, taking first place.
Now the Malvern group - which fielded two teams in last year's competition - is planning on staging the event in the town in March.
Secretary Karen Bartlett said the event had attracted a lot of interest and they were now waiting to hear back from the Malvern College - where it was hosted last year to find out if they could stage it there again.
"I think it'll be really popular again because it was great fun last year and everybody enjoyed it," she said.
"A lot of teams went away saying how good it was and have been asking if it's going on again this year."
Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact team sport which shares similarities with football, netball and American football.
It involves teams of between five and seven players competing to score passes to members standing in "endzones," which are lines drawn across the pitch at either end.
Malvern is hoping it will be able to work on its fourth and twelfth place positions.
The group has about 40 members and has weekly sessions at Dyson Perrins sports hall, on Yates Hay Road, at 6pm every Thursday.
Malven players are already busy getting in shape for the tournament, with the group also holding outdoor training sessions at Malvern Girl's College every couple of weeks.
And Ms Bartlett said she hoped this year's tournament would attract a bigger following from spectators.
"We don't really get a lot of spectators when we go to other tournaments as it's not really a spectator sport but hopefully, more people will come along to watch."
