TWO Worcestershire riders made the line-up in a national show jumping qualifier staged at Warwickshire College and attracting entrants from several counties.
Broadway's Annabel Stout and Wychbold's Laura Hollier were both competing in the Kitt Kraiburg Junior Discovery qualifier for riders aged 16 or under and ponies who have won less than £175 to date.
Both were among 12 who made it through to the timed jump-off after going clear over Giovanni Losito's first round course.
They were chasing eight tickets to the final at April's Blue Chip Championships at Solihull.
Stout, 15, was drawn first against the clock on her 148cms palomino mare Wow It's Willow, her partner of the past two years.
"As there were a lot in the jump-off Annabel just had to go for it and produced a great clear round," said her mother Janatha.
"She led until close to the end when she was just pushed into second by Chipping Norton rider Molly Lakin.
"Wow It's Willow is naturally forward moving and covers the ground well. Annabel had just wanted to qualify so she was pleased to finish second."
The pony came from Warwickshire-based under 21 international dressage rider Henry Boswell and had done little jumping before Stout took over the ride.
"The pair qualified for the national Scope Festival in Staffordshire last year where they were fourth in the junior novice final," her mother added.
"This will be Annabel's first time at the Blue Chip Championships though. She is also a member of the North Cotswold Pony Club and plays polo with them."
Wychbold 15-year-old Laura Hollier came from mid-way though the jump-off and had an unlucky pole off the second fence to finish in a time that would have been good enough for the runner-up's spot.
The four faults left her in fifth but still with a ticket to the final on her 13-year-old bay pony mare Mursland Sprite.
