Fairfield Villa 0

Cadbury Athletic 4

INJURY hampered Fairfield at the Recreation Ground as title chasing Cadbury scored three second half goals to ensure victory on Saturday.

Villa had been matching their high-flying rivals in the Midland Combination Division One.

However, manager Neil Gallagher was forced to change his side around after Richard Miller limped off with a muscle problem.

The manager said: "Once I made the change we lost all our discipline and Cadbury were sharp enough to take advantage of that.

"Before then we had matched them for all the game.

"While I'm not saying we would have got a result, I don't think we'd have lost by four goals."

Fairfield were trailing 1-0 at half time but still had been giving Cadbury a fight.

Miller's substitution disrupted the team and Fairfield struggled to recover.

Mark Ingram had a strong call for a penalty, after he was brought down in the box, ignored but Fairfield did not have the cutting edge to threaten their Birmingham rivals.

Midfielder David Dainty is set to make his debut for Villa in Saturday's clash away at Northfield Town (2.45pm kick off).

Dainty, signed last week, has been unable to play because of work commitments.

Villa will be hoping to close the four point gap between themselves and Northfield in Birmingham.

Gallagher said: "There won't be much in this game as both teams are so close in the table."
