WELL done, Councillor Mary Drinkwater for letting the "cat out of the bag" or should I say "public conveniences for the chop".
The Tory proposals to close all public conveniences in the city deserve her admonition. This is another example of failing to meet the hard-pressed citizen's needs.
Why not talk of improving them to meet the needs of citizens and visitors alike?
Another example is the proposal to destroy our community centres that have been built up over the years.
Cuts to city youth workers, education providers and play workers will only cut the services in the most needy areas of the city.
The problem appears to be the quest for budget cuts, all the time. Even proposals to build a car park on the Cripplegate Park have again resurfaced, despite Coun Francis Lankester's admission that his £6m expenditure on a riverside revival is a" pipe dream".
